My Never-Ending New Orleans Updates

I fall back in love with the city every time I step foot on the streets...........

Forever and ever, as long as I'm traveling to New Orleans, I will without a doubt blog about my time while there. Hopefully one day I won't have to post all about my trips to the happiest place on earth because I'll be living there. For the mean time, three to four trips a year will have to do. On to my spring break trip:

Let's talk meals. 

As always, beignets & cafe au laits at the only and only Cafe Du Monde were both to die for. I mean come on, fried dough + a pound of powdered sugar (per beignet) dunked in sweet, creamy coffee late in the PM with your best friends.... that pretty much speaks for itself.

Our friends who we went with introduced to a few new places, Felix's is a must so we had to go there for oysters at some point. The first place we went to was a little Italian restaurant called Irene's. My parents are obsessed with Italian food. Like seriously obsessed. Like obsessed as in when I was younger we had pasta for dinner 3-4 times a week. Pasta has never been something I crave regularly, though. Unless it's gnocchi.

But anyways, my parents made a huge deal about this place, they had gone the week before, and I may have gotten my expectations up a little too high. Don't get me wrong, the food was delicious, I think I may have ordered the wrong thing, though, the Meuniere Amandine. Don't you hate when that happens?
 One thing I can say, the Duck St. Philips there IS amazing. So if you do happen to stop into Irene's (which I do recommend), order the duck.
I wish I did...

Okay now get ready for a rave, because this place set the bar so high for every restaurant in New Orleans I will ever go to again.

R'evolution. A little bit more of a modern French restaurant. Super nice decor. Super nice food. Super nice service.
They started us off with a little complementary spoonful of the chef's potato salad he was working on. I was immediately in love with the place. Not just because the fresh dill infused potato salad that I had just eaten was incredible, but because they gave us free food. Talk about hospitality.

Next we ordered appetizers. Kind of ended up like my Nashville trip, where we ordered every appetizer they had. I'm talking oysters (with lime mint granita and mango salsa), sausages & cheeses, lobster gnocchi (yes, as an appetizer), beef carpaccio, and so much more.

I had two appetizers (my indecisive-self) for my entree. One, a Raw Vegetable Salad, and the other, a Trio of Seafood.

 I was in a fishy mood. The seafood salad trio was literally some of the best ceviche I've ever had in my life. Ever.

On to dessert (of course), our table split a White Chocolate Bread Pudding Creme Brulee and the Deconstructed Strawberry Shortcake.

So yummy.

And the best part of the experience at R'evolution was at the end when they bring out a little bento box of praline samples and candies. I know right... more free food!! So those were gone in .2 seconds flat. Another one of my many reasons for loving NOLA is the pralines. Just ask my friend... I made her go into EVERY single one we passed on this trip to sample pralines. And this is New Orleans we're talking about... Praline shops are on every corner.

I'd say R'evolution was a perfect way to end a short & sweet New Orleans trip...

Also, can we just take a moment and appreciate this pitaya (dragonfruit) bowl I devoured a couple of days after my NOLA trip in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
