Things I’ve Been Loving
I’m starting a new “series” to share some of my favorite things at the moment. These ‘things’ will be anything from ingredients, other blogs, cookbooks, recipes, or non-food related things like music, skincare, books, Netflix shows, etc. - just anything and everything that I’ve been loving!
I know life might be getting a little boring lately, so if you’ve been feeling a little lost or in a rut, here are few of my favorite things to refresh your usual routine.
1. Laird Superfood Creamers
I’ve had Laird creamers in the past, but I recently rediscovered my love for them and have been addicted to them ever since. Since cutting out dairy (for the most part), I love to find new alternatives to traditional creamer and milk. These creamers are not only dairy free (made with coconut milk powder), but also low in sugar and full of flavor. The little bit of added coconut sugar gives them the perfect amount of sweetness. I’ve been loving mixing it into my coffee and topping it off with a little bit of frothed oat milk or almond milk. My favorite flavors are definitely the Mint Chocolate and the Vanilla Bean ones.
Speaking about coffee, my next favorite thing is:
2. MY diy coffee bar
After moving out of my college dorm and coming home, I realized how much I missed having my coffee right next to me first thing in the morning. Since my family already has a coffee maker in our kitchen, I decided to put mine to good use and make a little coffee bar in my bedroom. I have been loving waking up, walking 6 feet to brew my coffee, and getting right back into bed to drink it. If you happen to have an extra Keurig or any coffee maker lying around, you should definitely consider making a coffee bar of your own in your room.
Here are a few things I used to make my coffee bar:
Coffee Machine- first and foremost, you’re going to need something to make coffee with. I have the Special Edition Latte and Espresso Keurig and a French press.
Coffee- this is also another obvious one. I use my favorite K-Cups from Death Wish Coffee (seriously the best tasting and strongest coffee) for the Keurig, and I store ground Lavazza Super Crema Espresso beans in a mason jar to use in the French press. I also use those coffee grinds to make cold brew.
Creamer/Sugar- I either drink my coffee black or with a little bit of Laird creamer or a splash of oat/almond milk, so I don’t have any sugar, but I do have some Splenda stored away for when my friends come over. I keep my Laird coffee creamers in mason jars, as well.
Coffee mugs
Coffee books- this is not a necessity, but I put a few of my coffee and tea related books out to match the theme
3. Dining in - by alison roman
I talked about this book in my last cookbook collection, but I want to give it even more praise. I seriously cannot get enough of this cookbook. The pictures are GORGEOUS and the food also doesn’t disappoint. The recipes are minimalistic and delicious, and I’ve been getting a lot of inspo from them lately. Get your hands on this book if you can!
4. thE SPICE & tea exchange serrano cucumber candle
So this one is a little bit controversial, but I have been obsessed with this candle. I bought it just before coming home from school at the Spice & Tea Exchange in Bentonville, AR. I absolutely love the smell of this candle, but the reason I say it’s controversial is because my friends and family kind of hate it. It smells exactly like cucumbers and serrano peppers, so if you don’t like those smells to begin with, it might not be you’re thing. However, if you’re into fresh, crisp, spicy scents, you’ll love it. The Spice & Tea Exchange also has a ton of other food/spice related candles, so you’re bound to find one you love.
5. Acure skincare
This past Christmas my mom got me her favorite face wash, the Brightening Facial Scrub by Acure, and I fell in love with it. After I ran out, I kind of went on a bender and bought a ton of more products from their website. I’ve been loving the Radically Rejuvenating Serum and the entire Brightening line. I also love that all of their products are vegan and made with natural ingredients.
6. Hi-biscus la croix
Okay, so out of all the flavored sparkling waters out there, La Croix is not my favorite. I’m a die hard Spindrift fan, but since it’s really hard to come by in my hometown I usually have to resort to La Croix. I recently discovered the Hi-Biscus flavor and think it might be my new favorite La Croix—that and Key Lime.
7. Probably this - Blog
I’m ending this with a banger. I recently discovered the blog Probably This and am so thankful I did. They’re based in New Orleans, so naturally, I’m obsessed with them. The writers, Beau and Matt, post everything interior design, travel, food, DIY projects, gardening, and more. Probably This has been one of the only things getting me through my boredom during these past few weeks, so I highly recommend checking them out!
